Yasser Akkaoui is the founder of KConcept Holding, the holding company of Capital Concept, PrimeJob and NewsMedia.
Through Capital Concept, a company he founded in 2004, Akkaoui advises corporates, public institutions and family businesses in the Middle East and North Africa region on corporate governance (CG) matters and proxy voting. He was instrumental in the generation of a number of CG codes in Lebanon and the region for both the private and public sector.
Akkaoui founded PrimeJob in 1995, an executive search advisory firm. Through PrimeJob, Akkaoui advises corporates on the recruitment of executives and board members.
Akkaoui is deeply involved in civil society in the Middle East. He is a Beirut committee member of Human Rights Watch, a member of the Organization of Economic Development and Cooperation’s taskforce for MENA stock exchanges and the regional consultant for the Center for International Private Enterprise. In Lebanon, he is the chairman of the Lebanese Center for Policy Studies (LCPS), an independently managed, politically neutral, think tank established in 1989. LCPS advocates for judicial reforms, transparent budget process, decentralization and local governance, and the enhancement of the function of business associations in policy making. Akkaoui is also a board member of the Lebanese Transparency Association, Transparency International’s Lebanese chapter, through which he co-founded the Institute of Directors in 2010, which aims on promoting good governance in Lebanon. He founded the Center for Strategic Studies in 2006, a Beirut based non-governmental non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness on employment issues and developing resources strategies.
Akkaoui also represents the interests of EXECUTIVE Magazine, a Beirut based monthly English publication established in 2001 and providing analysis on Middle Eastern business, economy and public policy. He also teaches at business courses at the American University of Beirut as well as at the Ecole Superieure des Affaires (ESA). He holds a BA in Economics and an MBA.
Dina Zeidan Assouad is the Director of Operations at Capital Concept. Upon her return to Lebanon from New York in 2011 Dina was quickly converted to become an advocate of shareholder activism. Since then, she has played an integral role at Capital Concept, leading and managing corporate governance rating, peer reviews and assessments. Dina started her career as an account executive at Renegade, a guerilla marketing agency in New York. She later left to help start RO New York, boutique advertising agency, she was managing clients, operations, human resources and financials for over four years, prior to returning to Lebanon in 2011.
Farah Abou Salem is an Analyst at Capital Concept. She graduated from the American University of Beirut in 2015 with a BBA Degree. She joined the team during the summer 2014 as a part-timer while at university, and she was quickly converted into a shareholder-activist. Since 2014, Farah demonstrated a solid interest in Corporate Governance policies, contributed in the formulation of Governance & Integrity Rating (GIR) methodologies, and, as part of the team, conducted peer reviews and assessments.
